AbstractIn this work we will map burned forest area in Mediterranean countries, using Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) and MODIS data. Also, we will analyze the influence of image spatial resolution, comparing the obtained results with the results using ASTER data. Mapping burned forest areas is usually implemented using NDVI images. However, frequent confusions between burnt vegetation and shadows are observed. We will use SMA to try to improve the obtained results using NDVI images.
